Red dragons are the largest, and one of the most common subspecies found in the world. Mature adults are typically around 40 to 60 feet in length (please use as a basis for estimating other dragon sizes). Like their coloring, they are typically fiery in personality and nature, quick to enter battle. These dragons are quite muscular and bulky, excellent in combat with sharp teeth, strong claws, and red-hot, fiery breath. They also typically have intricate horns that grow with age. While called red dragons, colouring can vary quite a bit: from a deep crimson to red orange. Bryne dragons prefer mountainous or forested areas.

Green dragons are large, but never quite as large as a red dragon of the same age. They are known to have an excellent temperament and care greatly for the world and beings around them. In the wild, they will not harm a creature unless it is to hunt and they get along well with other dragons. Because of this, their fire cannot harm living beings and is actually soothing to the touch. Many green dragons and riders who have bonded go on to become excellent healers, mediators, and ambassadors. However, they can still fight in a pinch Their colouring can be any shade of green. Alor dragons are typically found in forested or lushly vegetated areas.

Small to mid-sized dragons that are fast with excellent aim and control in the air. They have lithe, longer bodies with torso and limbs much like a cat. These dragons are the most mischievous and get into trouble easily. They are quiet and acrobatic in movement, allowing for excellent ambush. Their fire is white hot, allowing for concentrated shots of fire at targets. Usually energetic, Haewen dragons have also been described as quite aloof at times. Their scales are blue in colour but can vary greatly in hue. A love for swimming, Haewen dragons are most commonly found near bodies of water.

Golden dragons are the most vain. They keep their scales spotless and are often described as majestic looking. They take pride in their hordes of treasures and precious metals or anything else they collect and if anyone dares take from them, they are a force to be reckoned with. Some enjoy decorating themselves in their treasures too. Having excellent eyesight, they can track things from miles away if nothing is obscuring their view. Geolwa dragons around usually around the size of green dragons. They can range in colour from gold to yellow to light orange. Geolwa dragons don’t have a particular habitat they prefer, as long as there is a place for them to hide any treasures.

The smallest dragons, and also the most elusive, black dragons are reserved for mods and shop purchases only. They are about the size of an elephant, not including the tail. They do not usually wish to bond and avoid contact with people. Personality-wise, black dragons are usually wise and clever, they like to calculate and offer advice to those who need it. Because of their size, they are quite stealthy for a dragon and make excellent scouts. Atler dragons often have spiral horns that continue to grow with age. They also are quite fast and acrobatic like the Haewen dragons. Not much is known about where Atler dragons live.

Bonding

B O N D I N G

Bonding occurs when a dragon of any species chooses a human or a yonmi as their partner for life. Bonded dragons are adolescents typically between the ages of twenty and two hundred when they search for a partner. The process is unmistakable but people may experience it differently. To some, it is a strong emotion or sudden mental connection, while others see a visible flash of light or another sign signifying their new attachment.

Once bonded, the rider will be able to hear the voice of their dragon and other dragons in their mind. Dragon speech in roleplay should be represented by italics. Riders can communicate mentally with dragons when they become skilled at controlling their thoughts (your decision on when) or verbally like with other humanoids but cannot hear the voices of dragons that are more than a mile or two away.

A humanoid will stop physically aging as soon as they bond with a dragon- whether they are ten or one hundred. They will then share their dragon’s lifespan for however long it is. Because bonding essentially binds the souls of the pair, if one dies the pain may be so great for the other that they die as well. Only in very, very rare circumstances has a dragon or rider survived a severed bond, and in each case they have suffered great mental damage.

If you are planning to kill off only one of your pair, please pm a mod about your plan first for permission. Do remember that the request may be denied.

M O R E

A dragon lives for so long that no one knows what their lifespan is, if they have one. The only known way a dragon can die is if it is killed, not through natural causes. Otherwise, a dragon will continuously grow throughout its entire life, albeit very slowly.

They are highly intelligent and can communicate telepathically with other dragons, their bonded rider, and other riders. They cannot communicate with unbonded humanoids or other animals, with the exception of nuana.

All dragons are able to breathe fire. This ability can be upgraded or changed to a different element with a bazaar purchase.

Dragons are either male or female.

A member of one subspecies can form a relationship with a member of a different subspecies but cannot produce offspring. This is one reason why dragons are much rarer than other creatures in the world.

Bonded dragons usually wear a saddle for their rider when traveling. A dragon’s scales are otherwise very uncomfortable to sit on. They do not use bridles though as it would be an insult to the dragon's intelligence and free will.
